About EECS College

College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) is home to four departments: Department of Electrical Engineering, Department of Electronic Engineering, Department of Computer Science & Information Engineering, and Department of Electro-Optical Engineering. The college emphasizes quality in teaching and research. The faculty members are actively developing critical technologies ranging from devices to systems, software to hardware, and from algorithms to implementation.

iEECS Program

This program is designed specifically for international students to prepare their future works in the global ICT industry at graduate level. It initially focuses on Communications, Control, and Signal Processing, emphasizing both theory and practice. In order to provide more diverse courses and broaden students' vision, the program now covers all the areas in EECS. It offers Master's and doctoral degrees and welcomes everyone.

Scholarships and Funding

There are various scholarships provided at Taipei Tech. Many scholarships are available for international students only, including "Foreign Student Scholarship" and "International Graduate Student Scholarship". More details can be found at the OIA website. In addition, the opportunity for graduate funding at EECS college is high. This may depend on your advisor. EECS faculty members may award research assistantships at their discretion. Students pursuing a doctoral degree have higher priority. Please note that it is possible to be admitted without support.

Doctoral Program

The iEECS doctoral program is to prepare students for scholarly research and professional leadership in EECS related areas. To obtain the degree after having the admission, one needs to fulfill the following requirements: (1) 32 course credits; (2) the qualification examination within three years after enrollment; and (3) dissertation oral defense. The 32 credits include 14 required and 18 elective ones. In the required courses, one needs to take two one-credit seminars and research dissertation of 3 credits in four semesters under the supervision of the advisor. The elective courses for the 18 credits are from the graduate-level courses of all the departments in EECS College. Among the 18 credits, 6 credits can be obtained from inter-college graduate-level courses upon the approval of the advisor.

Master's Program

The iEECS Master's Program is thesis oriented and to prepare students for a career in EECS related fields. The requirements for successful completion are: (1) 32 course credits and (2) Master's thesis oral defense. The 32 credits include 8 required and 24 elective ones. In the required courses, one needs to take two one-credit seminars and research thesis of 3 credits in two semesters under the supervision of the advisor. The elective courses for the 24 credits are from the graduate-level courses of all the departments in EECS College. Among the 24 credits, 6 credits can be obtained from inter-college graduate-level courses upon the approval of the advisor.
